Does telling stories excite you? Want your voice to be heard? Are you ready to put pen to paper for the stage?
SRT, with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies, nurtures emerging young writers through The Young Company Writers 16-week course, where new writers learn to harness their imagination into words, learn new writing skills and how to structure their very first play, all under the mentorship of professional theatre writer Li Xie.
"The workshop aims to cover the fundamentals and practical applications in playwriting, discover the creative process of a writer's mind, and uncover stories that resonate with our hearts and lives, eventually bringing these exciting elements together to present." - Li Xie
This platform offers the writers tools to structure and present the work whilst allowing them the freedom to develop their own ideas. There is also a community-based learning where the writers support each other, share ideas and contribute to a platform for new and local writing to be heard.
The finale of this programme is a night on the stage at SRT, where your words hit the spotlight in collaboration with SRT’s The Young Company Actors, under the Direction of Daniel Jenkins.
