SRT is now auditioning for The Young Company’s 2026 Semester 2 Intake!

Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT)’s The Young Company (TYC) is a modular acting programme for young persons aged between 16 – 25, that will equip you with the holistic skills and techniques you need to shine onstage as well as in your future career of choice. The programme has a rich 20-year history and was the first youth theatre programme to be established in Singapore. 

We are thrilled to have supported the careers of many wonderful creatives. Here are just a few TYC alumni members in the industry:

Why should you join us? 

Carrying on this stellar tradition, Semesters 1 and 2 (spanning 16 Saturdays each, from January to May in Semester 1 and approximately June to October in Semester 2) will consist of an exciting series of weekly masterclasses led by award-winning industry stalwart Daniel Jenkins alongside veteran guest facilitators.
 
This is your chance to join a programme that covers all the bases – from voice training and movement exercises to scene studies and monologues.

Find your people in the next generation of theatre makersthrough professional mentorship and workshops in:

  • Physicality in acting
  • Stanislavsky’s renowned system of techniques for actors
  • Deconstructive analysis and performance of contemporary monologues

Application Information for 2026 Semester 2 Intake

Semester Dates: 27 Jun to 10 Oct 2026
Age: 16 to 25 years old
Fee:

Free to audition.

If selected, the fee for each semester is S$500.00.

Audition Dates:

22 and 23 May 2026*

*Audition slots are limited. Your application will be evaluated and SRT will be in touch after the submission deadline on whether you have been assigned an audition slot.

What to prepare for your audition 

  1. One Contemporary monologue 

  1. One Classic monologue 

  1. One song from a musical of your choice* 
    *You are required to provide your own minus 1 backing track.  

Each monologue and song should not exceed 2 minutes in length.  

Successful auditionees will be notified with further details on a rolling basis; due to the volume of applications, we are unable to offer feedback for unsuccessful individuals.

Daniel Jenkins, Lead Artist

Daniel is a multi-award-winning actor and director. Originally from the UK having trained at Guildford School of Acting, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Goldsmiths University, Daniel holds a Master of Arts in Arts Pedagogy and Practice, a BA in Theatre, and a Licentiate in Teaching Drama. Daniel is well known as an actor, director, and educator having worked for all the leading theatre companies in Singapore, appeared in many television shows and feature films, (most notably Crazy Rich Asians), and lectured and directed at Singapore’s top drama schools.  

 

As Deputy Artistic Director at Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT), Daniel has been TYC’s Leading Artist since 2008 and has directed 15 of their productions. These include Falling Falling Falling Falling, A Super Happy Story (about feeling super sad), After Life, A Monster Calls, Girls Like That, Ghostlight, 1984, The Fall, The Roses of Eyam, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Laramie Project, The Trojan Women, Lord of the Flies, Grimm Tales, and The Crucible.

 

Daniel has been nominated 7 times for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the Straits Times Life Theatre Awards. His most recent nominations were for Best Actor in 2025 for Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolfe (Pangdemonium) and Best Director in the 2023 nominations for The Almighty Sometimes (SRT). He has twice won the Best Supporting Actor Award for his roles in Quills, and Cabaret
